“The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.” Luke 6:45
When I was younger, my mother would always say, “If you listen long enough, a person will tell you everything you need to know about them.” Her sentiments echo the words spoken by Jesus as He taught the large crowds during the Sermon on the Mount. A person’s deception cannot last too long before his or her true feelings, beliefs and motivations become apparent in their speech and actions. What is in one’s heart shows itself in one’s behavior. As Jesus says, “For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.” What is overflowing from your heart today?
May the Lord be with you.
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Genesis 50: 20
Joseph spoke these words to his brothers shortly after their father’s death. If you know the story of Joseph, then you are aware of how profound that statement is. Joseph, the victim of jealousy and rage, was sold into slavery, falsely accused and jailed. Yet, from these hardships, good prevailed. Joseph, through his God-given ability to interpret dreams, was able to save the lives of many by instructing Egypt to store up for the upcoming famine. In turn, he was was able to prevent his family- including those brothers that sold him into slavery- from becoming destitute during the famine.
Let’s trust God as Joseph trusted. Wait patiently and expectantly on Him during bad situations. God will overrule evil intentions to bring about His intended results.
May God bless you today and always.
