A Patient Man Has Great Understanding – Daily Inspiration, August 8, 2012

“A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.” Proverbs 14:29

Ecclesiastes 3:1 tells us, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven” (NIV). Just as there is a time for anger like in cases of injustice, there is also a time for us to be still and patient, like in instances when we feel insulted. Before reacting to an offense, take a deep breath and consider the consequences of your actions. What benefit will be gained? How will it affect others? How will it affect me? The momentary satisfaction of giving in to the temptation to react to every offense may not be worth the permanent pain it will cause. Words and actions cannot be taken back. People may forgive them, but they are never forgotten. When you find yourself in a situation where you really want to react to a personal slight, pray to God for the self-control to restrain those urges and replace them with positive, effective thoughts rather than actions that divide and destroy.

May the Lord be with you today.

Grieving God Vs Pleasing God – Daily Inspiration, July 14, 2012

“Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. He kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.” Ephesians 4: 31-32

Are you at odds with someone today? Forgive him or her. Easier said than done, but forgiving someone is the hardest and simplest thing we can do to heal broken relationships. Pride may not let you want to take the first step, but take it. Don’t hold on to your hurt and anger. It’s unhealthy physically and spiritually. The way we live our lives can either please God or grieve Him. Don’t live a life that grieves our Father. Live in love with one another.

May the Lord be with you.
