“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” Proverbs 31: 10
Today would have been my maternal grandmother’s 82nd birthday. She passed away the day after Valentine’s in 1996. Ours was a complex relationship; definitely not your typical grandmother/granddaughter bond, but we loved each other. Unfortunately, it was rarely – if ever – verbalized. And that has always been my regret.
Don’t allow this type of regret to take root in your life, too. Don’t let pride keep you from telling your loved ones how much you love them, even if you don’t have “that kind of relationship”. While it’s good to feel there is love between you, I haven’t met a person yet who didn’t want to also hear that he or she is loved. We’ve heard the phrase, “Actions speak louder than words.” There is also another phrase, “The pen is mightier than the sword.” Your actions and your words have impact. So, go ahead. Tell your mom, dad, sister, brother, grandparents, spouse and friends that you love them. It will not only bring a smile to their faces, but also to yours.
Live in love today. May God’s blessings continue to rain upon you.
